Discounts are one of the most powerful ways to encourage larger orders and drive conversions—and when paired with a personalized bundle experience like Mix & Match (Sectional), they become even more effective.
In Kefi Upsells, Mix & Match (Sectional) Bundles allow you to divide product selections into separate sections (like “Pick a Top,” “Choose a Bottom,” “Add an Accessory”) and apply custom discount logic to incentivize purchases.
This article walks you through how to set up and tailor discount offers within a Sectional Mix & Match bundle—whether you’re offering percentage-based discounts, fixed price deals, or value-packed tiered offers.
Product Setup
This is where you define the structure of your Mix & Match (Sectional) bundle. You can create up to 6 sections, each representing a product category (e.g., Cleansers, Serums, Moisturizers).
For each section, you can:
Add a Title: A clear, customer-friendly label like “Step 1: Choose Your Top.”
Add a Description: Brief guidance for what to select.
Choose Products: Add items manually or pull from a Shopify collection.
This setup helps guide your customers through a personalized yet structured bundle experience.
Where to Find the Discount Settings?
After setting up your product sections in the Content tab, scroll down to the Discount Option section. This is where you’ll define how discounts apply once customers complete their bundle.
Types of Discounts and Offers Available
Kefi offers four discount types you can apply to your Mix & Match (Sectional) bundle:
1. Percentage Discount
Offer Name: Pick & Save – 15% Off Your Custom Set
Why it Works: Percentage discounts are psychologically powerful because they offer perceived value across multiple items. When tied to a customizable experience like sectional bundling, they incentivize customers to complete the entire bundle by unlocking savings.
This approach is perfect when you want to gently nudge customers toward adding more items without compromising too much on pricing.
Example: Choose 1 product from each section—Cleanser, Toner, and Moisturizer—and get 15% off your full skincare routine.
Use this when you want to reward full-bundle purchases while giving customers the flexibility to pick products they want.
2. Fixed Amount Discount
Offer Name: Build Your Look & Get $20 Off
Why it Works: A flat amount discount is straightforward and universally understood—it appeals to value-conscious shoppers and makes savings feel more tangible.
This discount type works especially well for bundles that cross price points and when you want the reward to feel consistent regardless of what’s selected.
Example: Create your own outfit: Pick a top, bottom, and accessory and get $20 off your total.
This format is ideal for apparel, fashion accessories, and lifestyle bundles where products vary in cost but come together to form a complete look or experience.
3. Fixed Bundle Price
Offer Name: 3 Essentials for $99 – One Price, Total Value
Why it Works: Fixed-price bundles simplify the buying decision and communicate strong value.
Customers love knowing exactly what they’ll pay upfront—especially when the offer makes sense compared to the regular item prices. This setup works brilliantly for items that are typically bought together, like bath sets, food kits, or stationery sets.
Example: Pick 1 scented candle, 1 bath salt, and 1 essential oil—all yours for just $99
It’s perfect for promotional campaigns, themed bundles, and gift sets with similar-sized or similarly priced products.
4. Without Discount
Offer Name: Create Your Own Combo – No Rules, Just You
Why it Works: Sometimes, the real value lies in the experience, not the price cut. Offering a bundle without a discount lets the customer enjoy the freedom of personalization while maintaining full price on each product.
This approach works especially well for premium, curated, or giftable products where shoppers prioritize personalization over deals.
Example: Build your own care package by picking one item from each category—soaps, teas, and treats—all at standard prices.
This format is perfect for high-end or handpicked products where the perceived value comes from thoughtfulness, curation, and experience—not markdowns.
5. Multiple Discount Offers (Tiered Pricing)
You can create tiered discount rules based on the number of items selected across sections. This motivates customers to add more items for better value.
Example Tiered Setup:
Offer 1: Buy 2 items – get 10% off
Offer 2: Buy 3 items – get 20% off
To create multiple discount tiers, click “Add Discount Offer” and define your quantity range and corresponding reward.
Optional Discount Features
Kefi also lets you enhance your discount logic with additional settings:
1. Allow Users to Buy Extra Items With This Discount Option
When this setting is enabled, customers can add more than the required number of items—beyond the initial 3—and still receive the same 20% discount on all qualifying items. This helps increase average order value while keeping the experience seamless and rewarding for the shopper.
2. Add Free Gift
This option adds a bonus product to the bundle when the conditions are met. For example, a Charger is automatically included once the bundle is completed, and it's labeled as “+ Free Gift” to make the reward clear and enticing. It's a great way to enhance perceived value and drive more conversions.
3. Add Range (Optional)
The Add Range feature allows you to define a minimum and maximum quantity range to trigger the discount—such as offering a discount only when customers buy between 2 and 4 items. While this setting isn’t enabled in the current configuration, it’s ideal for managing tiered discounts or limiting eligibility within specific quantity brackets.
Best Practices for Discount Customization
Align discounts with value: Use higher discounts for higher commitment (e.g., 20% off for 3+ items).
Use clear messaging: Reflect the discount in the CTA or product titles (e.g., “Build Your Set & Save 20%”).
Control margins: Apply caps or limits with fixed-price or gift strategies to keep profits intact.
Test tiers: Start with two offers and monitor performance—adjust based on conversions.
