Why Is My Post-Purchase Offer Not Visible?

If your post-purchase offers aren't displaying as expected, several factors could be influencing this behavior. Understanding these conditions can help you troubleshoot and ensure your offers reach your customers effectively.

1. Payment Method Limitations

Shopify restricts post-purchase offers to certain payment methods. Orders paid using the following methods will not trigger post-purchase upsell

  • Gift Cards

  • Cash on Delivery (COD)

  • Installment services like Klarna, Affirm, or AfterPay

  • Digital wallets such as Apple Pay, Amazon Pay, Google Pay, and PayPal Express

  • Manual payments or orders totaling $0

Additionally, third-party payment providers that store CVV details, such as Braintree and PayPal Payments Pro, are not supported for post-purchase offers.

2. Currency and Multi-Currency Settings

Post-purchase upsell offers may not display if the order is processed in a currency different from your store's default currency. This issue is common when multi-currency features are enabled. To resolve this, ensure your store's default currency aligns with the currency most of your customers use.

3. Shipping Address Requirements

Orders without a shipping address, such as those containing only digital products or selected for local pickup or delivery, will not trigger post-purchase upsell offers. Ensure that the initial order includes a valid shipping address to enable post-purchase upsells.

4. Order Value Constraints

Shopify requires that the initial order has a minimum value of $0.50 USD to qualify for post-purchase offers. Orders below this threshold will not display upsell pages.

5. Checkout Settings Configuration

If multiple post-purchase apps are installed, Shopify allows you to select which app appears on the post-purchase page. Ensure that your app is set as the default post-purchase app in your Shopify admin under Settings > Checkout.

6. Platform Performance and Load

During periods of high traffic or flash sales, Shopify may experience delays in order creation. These delays can prevent the post-purchase upsell page from displaying, even if all conditions are met.

Conclusion

By reviewing these conditions and adjusting your store settings accordingly, you can enhance the visibility of your post-purchase upsell offers.
