Step-by-step guide to installing and setting up Kefi on your Shopify store:
STEP 1
Begin by heading over to the Shopify App Store and searching for Kefi: WhatsApp Automation + Chat.
Click “Install” and follow the on-screen instructions to install it on your store.
STEP 2
Check for the app access, and then click install.
STEP 3
Once you’ve installed the app, you’ll be redirected to the Billings page. Simply select the plan or start your 7-day free trial.
Please note: Kefi: Whatsapp Marketing only has one plan, which is Premium Plan, billed at $49/month.
STEP 4
To begin using the app, you can either reach out to the chat support team, or set up a video call to connect your Meta Business Account.
If you’d like to set up your Meta Business Account on your own, simply click on the link to be redirected.
STEP 5
Continue with the logged-in account, or log in to another account.
STEP 6
Next, click on ‘Get Started’
STEP 7
You can either create a business profile, or choose from the dropdown, and then click next.
STEP 8
In case you want to create a Business Portfolio, simply select that option, and fill in the details.
STEP 9
Choose a Whatsapp Business Account, and create a New Whatsapp Business account. Then click, ‘Next’.
STEP 10
Create your WhatsApp Business Profile (Meta) —
Account name – Internal label in Meta (not customer-facing). Keep it clear, e.g., Content21.
Display name – Shown to customers. Must match your brand and follow Meta rules (no emojis, URLs, ALL-CAPS, or generic names).
Category – Pick the closest business category to yours from the dropdown menu.
Show More options – (Optional)
STEP 11
On clicking ‘Show more options’, here’s what you’d get -
Timezone – Pick your business timezone (e.g., Asia/Kolkata, GMT+05:30) for correct logs and send windows.
Business description (optional) – 1–2 lines on what you sell + value + (optional) support hours.
Website (optional) – Your live site (or social page if no site yet). Prefer a URL that shows the same brand as your display name.
Click ‘Next’ to continue to number verification.
STEP 12
Add your WhatsApp number —
Get a Free Whatsapp number: instant setup
Add a New number (your business number recommended)
Click Next to verify.
STEP 13
If you are choosing to generate a free whatsapp number, please select the said option.
STEP 14
In case of adding a new number, you’d need to Verify your WhatsApp business number.
Select Add a new number.
Choose the country code, enter your phone number.
Pick a verification method: Text message or Phone call.
Click Next to receive the OTP, then enter it on the next screen.
Please note: The number must not already be active on WhatsApp/WA Business—remove/migrate first. Keep the phone available for the OTP; have any 2-step PIN handy if enabled.
STEP 15
A Facebook popup will appear asking for Kefi Reachouts’ access.
Check that the correct Business and WhatsApp account are selected, then review the permissions:
Manage your WhatsApp accounts – lets Kefi link and configure your chosen account.
Manage and access conversations in WhatsApp – enables sending/receiving messages for automations and campaigns.
Log events on your WhatsApp business account to Meta – records message events for analytics and performance tracking.
When everything looks right, click Confirm to finish connecting WhatsApp to the Kefi app.
STEP 16
You’re now connected and can send up to 5 messages in a rolling 24-hour period while Meta completes review.
To fully activate messaging and run campaigns without limits, you must add a payment method:
In the Facebook popup, click Add payment method.
Enter a valid business card/billing details and save.
Click Finish to complete setup.
Please note: Adding a payment method is compulsory. If you do not add it, Meta will not be able to charge for WhatsApp Business messaging, and your account will remain restricted.
