How the Points Program Works in Kefi Loyalty
The Kefi Loyalty Points Program is designed specifically for Shopify stores that want to increase repeat purchases, boost customer lifetime value, and build long-term brand loyalty—without relying solely on discounts or ads.
By rewarding customers with points for purchases and engagement, Shopify merchants can:
Increase repeat orders by giving customers a reason to come back
Improve retention with rewards that feel earned, not forced
Reduce discount dependency by replacing constant sales with a loyalty system
Encourage higher order values through spend-based rewards
Build emotional loyalty with moments like birthday rewards and free products
Create a seamless experience that works directly within the Shopify storefront
Kefi’s points program is flexible, easy to configure, and fully customizable—so you can match rewards to your margins, brand style, and growth goals.
This guide walks you through how the points program works, how customers earn and redeem points, and how you can configure each part from your Kefi admin dashboard.
1. Setting Up Rewards for Every Order
During onboarding, Kefi guides you to choose how generous your points rewards should be for purchases. You can select from three recommended reward rates:
3% back – Conservative option, ideal for low-margin products.
5% back (Recommended) – A balanced reward rate that works well for most stores.
10% back – Aggressive option designed to maximize customer retention.
Example Impact
If a customer spends $100 and your store offers 5% back, they earn 500 points, which can be redeemed for a $5 discount.
This step helps you quickly launch a points program with a clear, predictable cost.
2. The Rewards Launcher (Customer-Facing Entry Point)
Kefi automatically adds a floating Rewards Launcher to your storefront. This is how customers access their points, rewards, and earning opportunities.
You can customize:
Launcher text (for example, “Rewards”)
Primary color to match your brand
Icon style (gift, star, crown, etc.)
The launcher stays visible on your storefront, making rewards easy to discover and increasing engagement.
3. Points Program Dashboard Overview
Points Program dashboard gives you a high-level view of your loyalty setup. It’s divided into two main sections:
Ways to Earn – Define how customers earn points
Ways to Redeem – Define how customers use points for rewards
You can manage, edit, enable, or disable each rule at any time.
4. Ways Customers Earn Points
Kefi supports multiple earning actions, allowing you to reward both purchases and engagement.
a. Place an Order
Customers earn points when they make a purchase.
You can configure this rule in two ways:
Incremental (based on spend) – e.g., 5 points for every $1 spent
Fixed per order – e.g., 100 points for every order
This gives you full control over how closely rewards are tied to order value.
b. Daily Visit
Reward customers simply for visiting your store.
Configuration options include:
Points earned per visit (for example, 10 points)
Maximum visits per day (commonly limited to 1 per day)
This rule encourages frequent visits and keeps your brand top of mind.
c. Sign Up
Customers earn points when they create an account.
You define a one-time reward (for example, 100 points).
Existing customers can also receive these points on their first sign-in after activation.
This is a great incentive to increase account creation.
d. Birthday Reward
Celebrate your customers by rewarding them on their birthday.
Set a fixed number of points (for example, 100 points).
Optionally require customers to add their birthday a certain number of days in advance.
Birthday rewards help build emotional loyalty and long-term engagement.
5. Managing Earning Rules
For every earning rule, you can:
Edit the title shown to customers
Adjust points values
Enable or disable the rule at any time
Choose an icon that appears in the loyalty UI
All changes take effect immediately and are reflected in the customer-facing rewards experience.
6. Tracking Revenue Activity
Each earning rule shows:
Whether it is Active or Disabled
You can track loyalty revenue from dashboard to get analytics of which rule is working
7. How Customers Use Their Points
Customers can redeem the points they earn through the Rewards Launcher directly on your storefront. The redemption experience is simple and transparent, helping customers clearly understand the value of their points.
Available Ways to Redeem Points
Depending on what you configure in Ways to Redeem, customers may see one or more of the following reward options:
a. Percentage Off Discount
Customers can exchange points for a percentage-based discount on their order.
Example: Redeem 500 points to get 10% off
You can set:
Points required
Discount percentage
Optional minimum purchase amount
Whether the reward expires after a set number of days
Which other discounts this reward can be combined with
This option works well for stores that want flexible discounts tied to order value.
b. Amount Off Discount
Customers redeem points for a fixed monetary discount.
You can configure this in two ways:
Fixed discount – e.g. Spend 500 points to get $5 off
Incremental discount – e.g. Every 100 points = $1 off (customer chooses how many points to redeem)
Additional controls include:
Minimum purchase requirements
Reward expiration (for example, expires after 30 days)
Discount combination rules
This is one of the most popular redemption options due to its clarity and predictability.
c. Free Shipping
Customers can redeem points to remove shipping costs from their order.
Configuration options include:
Points required for free shipping
Optional limits (for example, only apply when shipping cost is below a certain amount)
Minimum purchase requirements
Reward expiration settings
Free shipping rewards are highly attractive and can significantly increase conversion rates.
d. Free Product
Customers can redeem points to receive a specific product for free.
You can:
Select one or more products eligible for redemption
Define the points cost
Set optional expiration rules
Control whether this reward can be combined with other discounts
This option is ideal for promoting specific products or clearing inventory.
Managing Redemption Rules
For every redemption option, you can:
Edit the title shown to customers
Activate or deactivate the reward at any time
Set expiration rules to create urgency
Choose which discounts can be combined
Only Active rewards are visible to customers in the loyalty widget.
8. Best Practices for a Successful Points Program
Start with the 5% back recommendation and adjust based on margins
Combine purchase-based and engagement-based rewards
Promote the rewards launcher so customers know points exist
Use birthday and sign-up rewards to create memorable moments
By combining flexible earning rules with an always-visible rewards launcher, the Kefi Loyalty Points Program helps you drive repeat purchases, increase engagement, and build long-term customer loyalty.
