VIP Program: Overview and Setup
The VIP Program is a powerful way to reward your most dedicated customers by segmenting them into tiers based on their loyalty. By offering exclusive perks like discounts, free shipping, or product rewards, you encourage customers to engage more deeply with your brand and increase their lifetime value.
Why Use a VIP Program?
A well-structured VIP program transforms casual shoppers into brand advocates. It helps you:
Increase Retention: Incentivize repeat purchases by offering better rewards as customers "level up."
Boost Average Order Value: Encourage higher spending to reach the next milestone.
Personalize Rewards: Tailor benefits to different segments of your audience based on their engagement levels.
Getting Started
To access the VIP Program, navigate to VIP Program under the Loyalty Program Rewards App section in your Shopify admin.
By default, the program includes three tiers: Bronze, Silver, and Gold. Customers level up automatically as they meet the required milestones.
1. Program Configuration (Settings)
Before activating your tiers, define how customers qualify for them in the Settings menu.
Milestone Type: Choose whether customers move up tiers based on Points earned or total Amount spent.
Tier Evaluation Period:
Lifetime: Considers all-time points or spending.
Custom dates: Evaluates activity within a specific fixed date range.
Note: After saving changes to these settings, use the Recalculate Tiers button to apply the new logic to your existing customer base.
Managing Your Tiers :
Creating a New Tier
If the default tiers don't fit your strategy, you can create custom ones by clicking Add Tier.
Tier Information: Provide a unique Tier Name (e.g., Platinum, Diamond). This name is visible to customers on your storefront.
Milestone: Set the minimum points or spend required to reach this tier.
Status: Set the tier to Active to make it available or Disabled to hide it.
Icon: Use the default star icon or Upload your own to match your brand's aesthetic.
Adding Benefits
Benefits are the rewards customers receive once they reach a tier.
Requirement: You must save the tier first before you can add specific benefits.
Examples: You can offer exclusive discounts, free shipping, or free products.
Points Multipliers
Points Multipliers allow VIP members to earn rewards faster than standard customers. You can set specific multipliers for:
Orders (e.g., "2" gives double points on every purchase).
Birthdays.
Daily visits.
How to Edit or Delete Tiers
To modify an existing tier, locate the tier card (Bronze, Silver, or Gold) on the VIP Program dashboard.
Edit: Click the Edit link to change the name, milestone requirements, icons, or multipliers.
Delete: Use the Delete link if you wish to remove a tier entirely.
Deactivate Program: If you need to pause the entire VIP structure, use the Deactivate button at the top of the dashboard.
Recalculating Tiers
If you update your milestones or change your program configuration, click the Recalculate button. This ensures all customers are placed in the correct tier based on your updated settings. For stores with large customer lists, this process may take a few minutes to complete.
